Recovery day - most relaxing day of the week!

Today I have no training to do, no ergs to complete and generally no exercise is needed at all!
As I've been told to eat as often as possible and eat 4-6 meals per day I thought today would be a good chance to fill my stomach. After all, the body needs food to restore itself and grow.
I'm spending today doing some uni work which is due in a couple of days time, and buying more food which I'll need later in the week. Eggs, milk, bread, pasta are all on the list, being a high carbohydrate and protein content.

As far as sleep is concerned, I'm aiming for a minimum of 9 hours sleep per night. This will give my body time to recover and will allow my mind to stay sharp in everyday activities. Seeing as I don't regularly get a lie in, I'm having to go to bed earlier which is proving to be harder than expected!

Getting a seat on the VIII

As every rower aims to get a seat on the 1st VIII of their club, my aim is to get a seat on the boat, full stop. I'm currently coxing most members of the club - the Salford University Boat Club which I am enjoying, but don't feel the kick that rowers get after winning a race. I'll admit I enjoy the feeling of sitting in the boat and effortlessly steering while giving commands, but I need a reason to train and see how far my body will take me in terms of athletic performance.

That's why I'm writing this blog; to provide me with motivation to train and hopefully get a seat onto one of the VIII's from my club. I'll post about food habits, gym time and ergo sessions as well as How I'm improving on my test times throughout my training.
